Angelic Activity

Angels have not always existed like God has. Angels are created beings. We don’t have the exact number, but when the Bible refers to them, there are times when they’re numbered beyond measure. Thousands and ten thousands of angels. Multiplied by ten thousands. It would cause your calculator unable to return a number. God sends his angels on assignments to help us. The Lord helps us in ways unseen to the naked eye.

One of my favorite verses about angels is in Revelation 10:1-2, “Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars. He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,” What grabs my attention is that the angel was so tall that even his feet were on different parts of the terrain. Fear has no place, and we have to remember this as believers. God has a heavenly host that is looking out for us, protecting us for our good. Colossians 1:16 tells us that Jesus created the visible and invisible realms.

An Order of Angels

Did you know there’s a hierarchy for angels? Michael is referred to as an archangel. He is described as a leader of heavenly hosts, and as a warrior. Next, there’s a class of angels called the “cherubim” and they have one of the most unique descriptions in the whole Bible. The prophets Ezekiel and John had the privilege to see these creatures up close. The cherubim are also in the hierarchy of angels. They have four faces, six wings, and were as fast as lightning. And that’s not the most confusing part. They each have one wheel. The Bible also calls them living creatures, and what’s interesting is the spirit of the creature doesn’t reside in its body, it resides in the wheel! Yes, I’ve had to read this passage again and again, to get more of a cognitive picture.

Another set of creatures discussed are called the seraphim, or seraphs. The prophet Isaiah had an encounter with them. They also have six wings, and both the cherubim and seraphim praise the Lord in unison. The Lord is for us, who could be against us?

Lord of Hosts

God is over all the angel armies. The main verse we have for God is sending angels is in Hebrews 1:14- “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” That’s talking about us. God sends angels to minister to us. They are on assignment to protect and serve. One of the most beautiful things, I’ve learned in the past few years, is that when believers pray, they are giving angels their assignments. When you pray and ask God for help, he sends angels. I would encourage you to try this out. Friends or family who are going through a hard situation, ask the God of angel armies to send out his forces. There are millions of angels. God always has help available.

There are hundreds of verses that mention angels appearing to humans on God’s behalf and giving words to his people. When Jesus was on earth, there were several times when angels assisted him, including when he was praying in the garden of Gethsemane. It says that an angel appeared from Heaven and strengthened him. Since Jesus is our model, God can also bless us in that same way.

Modern Day Encounters

I know for myself, I’ve been at worship services, and people have attested to the fact, that they’ve seen angels in attendance. That angels are in the room. I have a friend who can see in the Spirit, and he can see angels all around. Standing in the line, at the store, he’ll take notice that Jesus and the angels are standing near us! When we’re walking with friends down to the beach, right on the sidewalk, he’ll notice the angels that are there. God has such a great way to protect us, and our prayers do work!

The point to walk to away with, is that God has a heavenly army of angels who are ready to fight for you, to protect you, and be sent on assignments that your prayers create. Living the supernatural life is for every believer. More and more, people are stepping into supernatural gifts of the Spirit, and people are receiving dreams, visions, and revelations. The Lord God of the Angel Armies, is ready to fight for you, and deliver you.
